Sri Lanka is no longer a newcomer in the surf scene, the short journey from Europe and just 4 hours time delay paired with waves all year round attract many surfers. Depending on the coastline, you can surf all year round. In addition, the island offers many cultural highlights, sightseeing spots and wildlife, that can be wonderfully combined with a surf trip. Then there are the friendly and helpful locals, the cheap life and, last but not least, the delicious food. Another plus are the tropical temperatures, which means surfing with board shorts or surf bikini all year round. In addition, in Sri Lanka you immerse yourself in a completely different culture and adventures are guaranteed. The waves are usually not too demanding, so that from my own experience many spots are well suited for the average surfer. On both coasts, south-west and east, there are different options for surfing beginners, intermediates and advanced waves. Beach breaks, reef breaks, point breaks: it's all there!
